The first Sunday Market opened on Sunday, August 29, 1976, with only 48 stalls. It attracted approximately 1,700 visitors and raised $531. Since its inception, the market has been managed by Rotary volunteers. To date, it has raised over $16 million to support local and international community projects.
The Camberwell Sunday Market is located in the car park on Station Street, behind the Burke Road shopping area in Camberwell, Melbourne. Since its inception, this market has focused on selling secondhand goods, antiques, unique collectibles (bric-a-brac), and other handicrafts.
The market has now grown rapidly into one of Melbourne’s largest flea markets, with over 380 stalls and attracting thousands of visitors each week.***
